Expert Reviews

From the CompareCards.com Editorial Team

Credit One Bank® is one of America's leading credit card providers, serving over 5 million customers nationwide. Credit One is committed to providing customers with credit card products that offer more value through cash back rewards and free online monthly credit score tracking.

The main benefit of this particular card is for helping establish or reestablish credit. Each cardholder account is periodically reviewed for credit worthiness, which can result in an automatic increase of your credit limit if your track record for payments is good. That helps to bolster your credit score, too, especially if you are disciplined enough to only use a maximum of 25%-30% of your available credit.

Cardholders are able to enjoy 1% in gas rewards with no cap on the number of rewards, which post to your account automatically each month. The Platinum Visa from Credit One Bank can be applied for online or when you receive a card membership invitation through the mail. Your credit limit will be based on your credit worthiness and may be as high as $1,500.

The card carries an APR of 15.65%- 24.15% variable, which is in the higher end of the spectrum, but is still pretty typical. There is, however, a rather high annual membership fee – something that is also a common feature among many cards that are marketed to people with less than stellar credit.

The Bottom Line

The Credit One Bank Credit Card with Gas Rewards is geared toward the consumer who needs to find a card that will give them the tools necessary to improve their credit score and credit history. In that respect the card does a good job of offering a full-fledged card with several financial management and account oversight tools to help strengthen one’s credit.

The Good

Card holders can earn 1% cash back on gas purchases with no limit to rewards earned. This card offers several convenient features designed to help you manage, monitor, and improve your credit. You can also choose your own card design from the card issuer’s gallery of images.

The Not so Good

The annual fee can be as low as $0 or as high as $99. There is no fee charged when you make a standard payment, but you’ll be charged $9.95 if you use the Express Payment option.

I have had this Credit One Bank card for almost 3 years and I have never had a problem. When I make a purchase I usually pay it off with in 30 days to avoid the interest. It is great for rebuilding your credit. Overall a great asset for your wallet.

Pretty good card for building credit but the APR is a little high for my liking. Every purchase I pay off right away, to avoid too many charges. I do enjoy having this card and Credit One has always been good with customer support. If you are looking for a card to establish or build existing credit this is a pretty good card.
