Details from the CompareCards.com Editorial Team

For those who like to keep it simple and steer free of penalties and unexpected rate hikes – while working to pay down balances on other cards – the Citi Simplicity credit card is simply the best. Citibank does advertise its products on CompareCards. You get 0% for 21 months, followed by a variable interest rate of 12.99% - 22.99%. The extra-long 0% intro rate applies to both balance transfers and purchases, which makes the Citi Simplicity card a great card to use for big purchases or to consolidate other credit card debt.

One of the most remarkable features of this card is that there are no late fees or penalty rates charged for late payments. You also get special coverage for lost luggage or trip cancellation and $0 liability on unauthorized charges. It is no wonder that the Citi Simplicity has won rave reviews and is included in many consumer lists of “Top 10” credit cards.

The Bottom Line

The Citi Simplicity Card keeps it simple, streamlining the terms of its cardholder agreement in a way that is probably simpler than any other credit card on the market. Plus there is a full 21 months of 0% APR, no annual fee, and no late penalties.

The Good

The best part about this card is the fantastic 0% APR for a full 21 months, on both balance transfers and purchases, so that’s a generous incentive.

The Not so Good

You’ll need excellent credit to qualify for the Citi Simplicity card, and there is no rewards program attached to it.

I do not recommend this Citi Simplicity Card at all. For me, the promotional term of 0% APR was for 21 months from February 2013 to October 30, 2014. Thereafter, Citibank jacked my APR to 21.99%. I had a balance of approximately $1,300.00 remaining, in which I paid the majority of the balance ($1,100.00) on November 3, 2014. On December 2, 2014, I paid the remaining balance of $215.00. Twenty days later, I received another statement from Citibank, indicating that I still owe $1.44 as a residual interest. The nerve of Citibank when they sent this statement five days prior to Christmas. Friggin $1.44 to line some CEO's pocket?!? I vented at several customer service representatives of Citibank on Facebook and via telephone conversations, telling them that their CEOs were nothing but modern day Ebenezer Scrooges. It was also an insult to have my APR at 21.99%. They could not compete with my credit union in offering an APR comparable to a 7.79% APR. I got my $1.44 back about two months ago and the teller at the Citibank branch that I went to cash the check spent over 1/2 hour to process the check. Then she wanted me to put my fingerprint on the check, which I felt was totally moronic. Finally, this is not the first time I had a bad experience with Citibank's credit card program. I closed the credit card account and walked away. Citibank, y'all need to stop nickle and dime consumers for the measly amounts of $1.50 or less. By the way, my FICO score is about 760, which means I should have a better APR than 21.99%. I have five other major credit cards and none of them charge me an APR over 17%. The lowest APR I have is 6.74%, followed by 7.79%. Your bank is not consumer friendly.

Overall it's a great card, 0% APR, late payment forgiveness, good rates, etc. But I have to mark it down a lot because of the shoddy customer support. When you first activate your card, they automatically enroll you in Identity Monitor and some kind of payment protection plan, to help if you lose your job, or get injured or something. Sounds nice, but IM is $13/mo and the protection is, I think, $1 per $100 credit on your account per month. For people like me that plan to max out the card until the end of the intro period, that's no good. When I asked the rep: "Could you please remove me from IM and the protection plan?" they (had to talk to more than one) stated the benefits of the plans again and actually said "so I'm just going to keep you enrolled, ok?" No, not okay. I asked to be removed and you completely ignore me. They also tried to keep me enrolled by promising me a free credit report and said I could cancel after I received it if I wanted, so I figured, ok why not? He neglected to mention that it would be well into the next billing period before I receive my report. Finally I disputed it online, (online support, unlike phone, is excellent) managed to get a refund and removed from the programs. I did get a very detailed credit report out of it, so I'm not too upset, but it was a headache and annoying as hell to be told "no I'm not removing you from our programs even though you asked."

All in all this has been a great card. I picked it up about 6 months ago when I wanted to extend my credit and build up my rating a little more. I went with CITI because I already had a card from my credit union and I wanted a second. Not having to pay any annual fees, penalties, or late fees was pretty awesome. The interest rate to start off with is great! (I mean 0%?!?!?) But it does get a little high after that so just be careful not to carry too much of a balance.

Have had this card for a while and I tend to not use it much because of the poor website set up and controls. I find the Citi site very difficult to use and would recommend another company. I've also had problems with incorrect fees and other issues that were not my fault. The 0% intro is good though.

Easy to use card without many hassles. My wife and I have been using it for a few months now and it has been great so far, the rates are great! The late payment forgiveness will be very handy for those rainy days that we all have from time to time. I would suggest this to any family.
