The Bottom Line

The card will be useful for those wanting to earn rewards for travel on American Airlines, although there are other airline rewards cards that may have more generous offerings.

The Good

Receive 25,000 American Airlines bonus miles after $750 spent on purchases within the first 3 months, enough for a round trip domestic flight.
Earn one mile per dollar spent, and there are no blackout dates. Cardholders are also entitled to in-flight discounts on food and beverages.
The annual fee is waived for the first year.

The Not So Good

There is a $50 annual fee.
The APR for purchases and balance transfers is 14.24% to 22.24%, based on your creditworthiness. The APR for cash advances is 25.49%.
There is a surcharge on balance transfers of either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater and a surcharge on cash advances of either $10 or 5% of each transaction, whichever is greater. There is also a 3% foreign transaction fee.
