The Bottom Line

When looking for a credit card that will accept you with bad credit, there can often be additional fees, restrictions, and limits.  With this card you have an annual fee, a required security deposit, and a secured, but high APR; however, when compared to other cards on the market, this card offers a higher credit limit than many others.  If you are looking for a card that comes with a rewards program and a lower APR, there are other comparable cards available.

The Good

What is so attractive about this card is the 5,000 credit limit, where many other cards geared toward this population restrict you to credit limits such as $300-$500. It does include a $35 annual fee; however other comparable cards list up to $99 for an annual fee.  The APR is secured, so you need not worry about keeping up with a changing interest rate.

The Not So Good

The Atlantic Stewardship Bank Secured Visa credit card comes with an annual fee and an out-of-pocket expense that includes a required $300 security deposit.  The APR may be secured but it is quite high at 21.24%.  Other comparable credit cards for those with looking to re-establish their credit history include better incentives, such as a lower introductory balance transfer APR, no annual fee and a rewards program.
