The Bottom Line

The Amalgamated Bank of Chicago Gold Plus Credit Card offers a low interest rate; however, it doesn't include any additional perks unless you opt for the AmalgaMiles travel program, that comes with a $29 annual fee.  There are cards with more generous points earned per dollar spent and lower or no annual fees.

The Good

The low interest rate is attractive, but even more so is the flexible AmalgaMiles program which allows you to fly on any airline, anytime, with no blackout dates.

The Not So Good

The card comes with an annual fee of $45 and no additional benefits.  If you elect to participate in the optional travel rewards program, you'll be charged an additional $29 annual fee, with only one point earned per dollar spent.
