When you can't find it anywhere else, check eBay. That goes for just about anything you want to buy online. If you're a true-blue eBay-holic like my wife is, you might be excited to know about a credit card that rewards you for your purchases. The eBay MasterCard is designed just like any other rewards card, but the point system is set up specifically for the site. You could finally get something back for all of those late-night auctions you stay up for.
This may not be the card for everyone, but I was surprised to see just how nice it is. Here is an eBay MasterCard review that shows off the pros and cons of owning this card.
eBay MasterCard Features
Some highlights for this card include:
- 3 points per $1 spent at gas stations and restaurants
- 2 points per $1 spent on eBay and PayPal purchases
- 1 point per $1 spent everywhere else
- Instant approval
- 19.99% – 23.99% APR
- Zero fraud liability
- No annual fee
- Can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted
The Good Side
If you shop online a lot, this card could be the best addition to your wallet – ever. PayPal is accepted at over 2 million retailers online. Every time you use your eBay credit card to pay for an item through PayPal, you get 2 rewards points. After those points start adding up, you can use them to put cash in your PayPal balance or receive gift cards for your favorite stores. Either way, you get rewarded for shopping online.
Even better than the online shopping rewards is the fact that you can build points by getting gas or going out to eat. That's what makes this card so special – it can be applied to life in the real world. You may go a few months without splurging on a new knickknack for the house, but you'll still build rewards by paying for items on your card. As long as you maintain your monthly payments, the benefits can add up fast.
The Bad Side
Normally, I would say that the down side to the eBay credit card is the fact that it is eBay specific, but it offers so many rewards outside of the site. With that in mind, you may have a tough time using it if you aren't familiar with PayPal. I pay my employees through PayPal, and thus I have a regular need for money in my account. I also have a PayPal Business Debit Card that allows me to instantly use money from my account like I would a normal bank account. The eBay MasterCard rewards program works well for me.
You could always take the money out of PayPal and put it into your bank account. That could take up to three days to complete, but it is a way to use this card without missing out on the rewards. If you find that to be too troublesome though, this card may not be right for you.
The Take Away
Is the eBay MasterCard a good credit card? Surprisingly enough, yes it is. I was just as skeptical as you might be, but the fact is this card has a lot to offer. You can use it as a gas rewards card, an online shopping card, a cash back card, and so much more. Best part of all, you'll know if you're approved instantly. If you think this is something you want to try, apply now and see what the eBay credit card could do for you.
