Other Options for Travel Rewards Cards

Overall, the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature credit card is an excellent credit card if you’re already a loyal customer for Carlson hotels. But if you’re looking for a travel rewards card that will allow you the flexibility to earn points for stays at any hotel or travel lodge, you may want to take a look at the following travel rewards credit cards:

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: This card earns 2 points per dollar spent on all travel and dining purchases, and one point on everything else. You can kick start your points balance by earning 50,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. Frequent travelers love this credit card because the points you earn can be redeemed in a number of ways.  Cardholders can earn 1 cent per point by redeeming as cash back or 1.25 cents per point by redeeming for travel. Cardholders can also transfer their points directly to a number of frequent flyer airline accounts or hotel loyalty programs to stretch your points even farther. The annual fee on this card is $95, but it is waived the first year.

ventureoneCapital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card: This is an excellent option if you're looking for a great travel rewards credit card with no annual fee. The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card comes with no foreign transaction fees and cardholders can earn 1.25 miles per every dollar spent using the card. New applicants can earn 20,000 miles by spending $1,000 with the card in the first 3 months. Earned miles can be redeemed for any airline or hotel, at any time, with no blackout dates. Lastly, there’s no limit to how many miles can be earned and they never expire.

The Bottom Line

Overall, the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature credit card is an excellent card to have in your wallet if you frequently stay, or plan on staying at Carlson hotels. If you redeem your Club Carlson Gold Points for just one or two free nights per year, you will easily receive a value that will far outweigh the cost of the annual fee. However, it's important to note that this card has almost no flexibility when it comes to redeeming points. So if you need a card that can get you discounts on flights or at other hotels, check out the two cards mentioned above.
