For consumers who are looking for a cash back card that won’t make you keep up with any confusing bonus categories, the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard® might be the perfect fit. This new credit card comes with a generous sign up bonus, a nice ongoing rewards rate, and many unique features that cardholders will love.

Rewards Details

To kick off the rewards earning, new cardholders can receive a $200 cash rewards bonus after you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days after account opening. For ongoing rewards, the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard® earns an unlimited 1.5% cash rewards on every purchase. That means you don’t have to keep up with any bonus spending categories or rotating rewards; instead, you receive a consistent cash back rate for every transaction. To make your cash rewards even sweeter, you’ll receive a 5% cash redemption bonus every time you redeem!

Redemptions start at $50, and you can easily redeem your cash rewards in a number of ways including a direct deposit straight into your bank account, a statement credit towards your credit card balance, or gift cards to your favorite stores and restaurants. Finally, your rewards will never expire as long as your account is open, active, and in good standing.

Rates and Fees

Another great feature that new cardholders will love is that the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard® comes with an intro APR of 0% for 15 months on purchases and 0% for 15 months (on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening). That means that if you need to transfer a balance from a high interest credit card, you’ll have over a year to do so without paying any interest. After the intro period is up, the interest rate will be 15.99%, 20.99% or 25.99% Variable APR based on your creditworthiness.

Since there is no annual fee with this credit card, cardholders have the luxury of earning rewards without ever having to pay a membership fee. However, there is a 3% foreign transaction fee, so you may want to refrain from using this credit card while traveling overseas. Also, there is a balance transfers fee of 3%, minimum $5, but that’s pretty normal.

How does it compare?

Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card: This credit card is extremely similar to the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard®, but there are a few notable differences. The Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card also earns unlimited 1.5% Cash Back on every purchase, every day and comes with a one-time $150 cash bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. The Capital One® Quicksilver® Cash Rewards Credit Card doesn’t have the 5% cash redemption bonus that the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard® has, but it has no foreign transaction fees and you can redeem your cash back for any amount; you don’t have to wait until you’ve accumulated $50 in cash rewards.

Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offerThis card doesn’t come with any sign up bonus like you’ll find on the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard®, but it has a better ongoing rewards rate. The Citi® Double Cash earns 1% cash back on purchases, and another 1% cash back when you pay. Just like the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard®, there is no annual fee, but the Citi® Double Cash offers an even better intro balance transfer APR with 0% for 18 months.

Chase Freedom®: If you’re more interested in maximizing bonus categories instead of earning a consistent cash back rate, then you should consider the Chase Freedom®. This card offers 5% cash back in certain rotating categories that change each quarter in addition to an unlimited 1% cash back on all purchases. The 5% categories usually include things you already spend your money on like gas, groceries, and restaurants. The Chase Freedom® also gives a better sign up bonus than the Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard® by offering $150 after new cardholders spend $500 in the first 3 months.
