Interest free credit cards can be very useful tools for a number of financial situations, so we've complied a list of credit cards with the longest 0% intro APR.

When to use a 0% intro APR Credit Card

One situation when the longest 0% APR credit cards can be especially useful is if you need to finance a big purchase. Whether you're doing a home makeover or planning a big vacation, using a long 0% APR credit card is the easiest way to stretch out your payments over time without ever paying interest. As long as you pay off your balance in full before the intro period is up, you basically have interest free financing!

That gives the cardholder almost a full two years to pay their balance off without paying a penny in interest. In addition to the incredible intro APR, the Citi Simplicity has no annual fee, no late fees, and no penalty rate. The ongoing APR is 14.24% - 24.24% (variable) based on your creditworthiness, and there is a balance transfer fee of $5 or 3% of each transfer, whichever is greater.

Citi® Diamond Preferred® Card: Another great offer by Citibank, the Citi Diamond Preferred also comes with 0% intro APR for a full 21 months on both purchases and balance transfers. Just like the Citi Simplicity, this card comes with no annual fee and a balance transfer fee of 3% or $5, whichever is greater. The Citi Diamond Preferred has a slightly lower ongoing interest rate with 13.24% - 23.24%* (Variable) based on your creditworthiness.

18 Months of 0% Intro APR on Balance Transfers

Citi® Double Cash Card – 18 month BT offer: The Citi Double Cash credit card has a very simple and lucrative rewards program that will earn you cash back twice on every purchase. Cardholders earn 1% cash back on all purchases, plus 1% cash back when you pay for those purchases. This card keeps it simple with no reward restrictions, caps, rotating categories, or annual fee. This card also has 18 months of 0% APR on balance transfers, making it one of the best balance transfer credit cards on the market!

Discover it® - 18 Month Balance Transfer Offer: You've probably heard about the Discover it card and the great cash back rewards and customer service that come with it. But now Discover is also offering a top balance transfer credit card to help consumers pay off their debt. This credit card has 0% intro APR for 18 months on balance transfers and 6 months on purchases no annual fee. There's a balance transfer fee of 3%, but you will no annual fee, no foreign transactio fees, and you'll also earn 5% cash back in special bonus categories each quarter on up to $1,500 in purchases.
BankAmericard® Credit Card: This simple credit card from Bank of America comes with no annual fee and 0% intro APR fro 18 billing cycles on qualifying balance transfer made in the first 60 days. After the intro period is up, the ongoing APR is 11.24% - 21.24% Variable based on your credit worthiness. There's no rewards program associated with this card, so it is specifically designed to help consumers save money with balance transfers.

15 Months of 0% intro APR on Purchases and Balance Transfers

Chase Slate®: This card is a long time favorite for balance transfer credit cards because it’s the only one on the market offering a very attractive combination of 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 month and $0 intro fee on transfers made within 60 days of account opening. The ongoing APR is 13.24%-23.24% Variable. This card also has $0 annual fee and a number of helpful tools to assist you in paying off your debt quickly and using the card responsibly.

Chase Freedom®: The intro APR on the Chase freedom is the same as the Chase Slate; cardholders receive 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers. The ongoing APR is 15.74% - 24.49% Variable. The Chase Freedom has one of the best cash back rewards programs on the market and cardholders can get a $150 Bonus after spending $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. The Chase Freedom has $0 annual fee, but the downside is that there's a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 5% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater. This could be the perfect card if you want to finance a big purchase with 0% intro APR and earn cash back rewards at the same time!

Chase Freedom Unlimited: If you're more interested in a rewards card that offers a flat cash back rate on every purchase, check out the Chase Freedom Unlimited. Just like the other two chase cards mentioned here, the Chase Freedom unlimited comes with $0 annual fee and 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfer. The ongoing APR is 14.24%-23.24% Variable. This card offers an unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase, everyday. Cardholders can also earn $150 bonus cash after spending $500 with the card in the first 3 months from account opening.

How to Pick a Low Interest Credit Card

Now that you know the longest 0 APR credit cards, it's time to pick which one is best for you. The first thing you need to consider is if you want 0% APR on purchases, balance transfers or both. Not every card has the same intro APR for both types of transactions, so always make sure you get a credit card that meets your needs. You should also ask you self if you want a credit card that comes with rewards on purchases.

If paying off another credit card with a balance transfer is your primary focus, you should ignore the rewards and go for the longest 0% APR credit card with the lowest fees. For no interest on purchases, it could be helpful to earn cash back on every transaction, so be sure to compare the cash back features of each card as well as the 0% APR.
