Credit score probably 620 looking to transfer $10,000 balance, any recommendation? Do yo need good credit for the citi cc with 0 % apr / 21 months?

By: CompareCards | Dec 30, 2016

With a score of 620, your credit is considered poor/fair and it will be difficult for you to get approved for a credit card with a long introductory APR. The Citi Simplicity and Citi Diamond Preferred, which each offer 0% intro APR for 21 months, require Good/Excellent credit to get approved. If you focus on paying down the balance on your existing credit card, your credit score should rise over time as your credit utilization rate decreases. Once your credit score is in the high 600s, you will have more options for balance transfer credit cards.

I don't have any credit yet and I'm looking to build it up. What's a good card for me to get approved for?

By: CompareCards | Nov 29, 2016

If you have no credit, you'll probably have to start with a secured credit card. Secured cards work just like normal credit cards but you have to put down a refundable security deposit to get approved. The Capital One Secured MasterCard and the Discover it Secured Credit Card are both great options.

I suggest you start with Capital One Platinum. That was the one I started with. I hope this is helpful

Capital One , Capital One, Capital One , Capital One, Capital One , Capital One, :P Thank you

By: Marcel Fernandes | Jan 5, 2017

For sure security credit card, capital one, bank of america & wells fargo can get you going. I say open at least 3 accounts and don't spend more then 29% of available credit given to you. Always pay on/or before due date and above minimum payment, good luck!

Hi I have a a 670 credit score and I am trying to get a card for a balance transfer to pay off Merrick bank credit card that is rather higher ....what do you suggest I should apply for?

By: CompareCards | Nov 28, 2016

With a credit score in the high 600s, your credit is considered fair/good. The Chase Slate card is an excellent balance transfer credit card that you may be able to get approved for, but there is no guarantee. If you are not approved for the Chase Slate, another good option that is available for people with average credit is the Capital One QuicksilverOne.

Can applying for a credit card ever hurt you credit score?

By: CompareCards | Nov 18, 2016

The impact that applying for a new credit card will have on your credit score can vary depending on your situation. When you apply for a credit card, the issuer will perform a hard inquiry which can have a slight negative impact on your score. However, this effect is small and temporary if you maintain good credit habits. In many cases opening a new credit card account can significantly raise your credit score because it will increase the total amount of credit available to you and it will decrease your credit utilization rate!

I have credit score of around 700. I have a Capital One right now, and need to get a credit card strictly for business. New company does not have company cards. They reimburse expenses on a weekly basis as submitted.

With a credit score of 700, your credit is considered good and there are a number of great credit card offers that you could get approved for. Check out all the options on our page for credit cards for good credit! If you are pleased with Capital One, they have an excellent cash back credit card called the Capital One Quicksilver and a popular travel rewards card called the Capital One Venture.

Bret man, go for the citi simplicity card. A very well balanced credit card, with customer folks that are in your side. They communicate well

It is true that having more that one credit card can help increase your credit score, as long as your accounts remain in good standing and you aren't carrying too much debt. Capital One consistently receives excellent reviews from their customers and they offer a number of great credit cards. Check out all their offers on our Capital One credit cards page to find the card that's best for you!

Im looking to do a balance transfer. My fico score is around the mid to upper 700. How do you know how much your limit is on whatever the new credit card is when you need enough to cover your balance transfer. I was told to apply for 3 different cards at one time

By: CompareCards | Oct 12, 2016

With a credit score in the mid to upper 700s, there are a number of excellent balance transfer credit cards that you should be able to get approved for. The Chase Slate card is a great place to start, and the Citi Simplicity and Citi Diamond Preferred are also great options. With any credit card application, you won't be able to know the line of credit you are approved for until after you are approved for the card. This is because the issuers determine the line of credit based on your credit history.
