I have a credit score of 700 with a 2300 balance that i want to transfer but I am not getting approved for any card that I apply to. What could be the reason for this?

By: CompareCards | Aug 29, 2016

Whenever you are denied for a credit card application, you should receive a written notice that outlines the reason you were not approved. This is the best way to find out which factors of your credit report kept you from getting an approval. With a score of 700, there are still a number of great balance transfer credit cards you have a good shot of getting approved for. If you haven't tried yet, apply for the Chase Slate card as it is on of the best balance transfer credit cards on the market. New cardholders receive 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 15 months and there is no fee for transfers made within the first 60 days!

I have a credit score of 669 and credit card with a $7800 balance, I want a 0% transfer promo that isn't Capital One?

With a credit score in the mid to upper 600s, your credit is considered fair/good and you may be able to get approved for the Chase Slate credit card. This card offers 0% intro APR for 15 months on balance transfers and no fee for balance transfers made within the first 60 days of account opening.

I have a card with a high credit limit that I currently does Not have a balance. Trying to improve my credit score, should I keep this card active, reduce the limit or leave it alone. Would cancelling this card hurt my credit score. I have a card with a high balance that I wish to transfer

What happens to the credit card you're transferring the money from? Will I still be able to use it?

By: Tracy L Rawlins | Jul 28, 2016

Absolutely. It just carries the balance of card A to card B

By: Ron Lash | Jul 30, 2016

Yes you can still use them. However, any purchase will be at the current APR.

My credit score is 646 because I have been out of work for 3 months and my balances got too high for the small payments I was making- If I make decent payments in the next couple months (I now have a full-time, well paying job), should I be able to raise my credit score enough to get a good credit limit so that I can make a transfer from my current cards to one of the 0% APR for so many months cards? I just applied for one and was only given a limit of $1500 because of my score.

Your credit utilization accounts for 30% of your overall credit score, so paying down your balance should definitely help you raise your credit score. Even thought the credit limit is not as high as you would have liked, it would also be helpful for you to transfer $1,500 to the balance transfer credit card you just opened if you think you will be able to pay off the balance in full within the introductory period with 0% APR. Paying no interest during the intro period will allow you to pay off your balances and raise your credit score much quicker.

Once your 12, 15, 18 month (whatever term) 0% transfer balance rate term is up, is the APR rate then calculated on the remaining balance? or the entire original balance that was transferred on to the card? Must you pay the transferred balance amount in that 0% term/window that is being offered?

By: CompareCards | Jun 24, 2016

After the introductory period is up, you will only pay interest on the remaining balance. You will only pay interest on the entire balance if your credit card charges what is called "deferred interest". None of the cards on this page will charge deferred interest. This is usually only found on store credit cards.

I already have a Slate card. Will they let me transfer more money without a balance transfer fee or is there another card I could look into with 0% charged on transfers?

By: CompareCards | Jun 20, 2016

If you already have the Chase Slate, you will not be able to take advantage of the intro balance transfer offer for that card. If you wish to transfer your balance to another good balance transfer card, two options you should look at are the Barclaycard Ring MasterCard and the Capital One QuicksilverOne.

I have about 6, 000 in credit card debt. Can I transfer this much to a 0% card. My credit score is in the high 600's

By: CompareCards | Jun 20, 2016

With a score in the high 600s, your credit is considered good and there are a number of balance transfer credit cards you have a good shot of getting approved for. The Chase Slate card would be the best place to start as it offers 0% intro APR for 15 months an no fee for balance transfers made within the first 60 days. The line of credit you are approved for will depend on your creditworthiness, so there is no guarantee you will be approved for a $6,000 transfer before you apply. However, with 0% intro APR, it would still be in your best interest to transfer what you can.

I already have 2 of the cards listed above. Can I get the balance transfer rate on a card I already have? THANKS!

By: CompareCards | May 25, 2016

Hi Laura,

It is extremely unlikely that your credit card company will lower your interest rate for you to perform a balance transfer. Balance transfer intro rates are offered to attract to customers, so if you need to transfer a balance and want to take advantage of a 0% intro APR, you'll need to open a new credit card account.

Compare 0% Balance Transfer Credit Cards & Offers

One of the main reasons that people shop for a new credit card is in order to find banks that offer special 0% balance transfer credit cards for the longest period of time and with low transfer fees. In recent years consumers have started to use credit cards more wisely than they did before the big credit crisis. Now they tend to shift high-interest card balances to cards that offer a lower APR, because in doing so they are able to gain immediate and substantial savings.

Use our free balance transfer calculator and credit card payoff calculator found on this site to figure out how much money you can save by getting a better interest rate. Then look in this section for the best balance transfer credit cards that offer good deals such as 0% interest for 1 to 2 years, no-fee balance transfers, and lower regular APR rates. You will want to pay special attention to any minimum charges or transfer % that a credit card company might impose on you for transferring a balance – deduct that cost from your overall savings in order to arrive at a real net savings for transferring to a new credit card.

Let’s say that you have a card that you’re currently paying 25% interest on, but you find a card here that will only charge you 3.99% for the first year and 18% thereafter. By moving your balance to the new card you can save more than 20% right away, and 7% over the long term. If your transfer amount is $3,000 that means you save around $500– $600 in interest within the next 12 months.

Reviews
" " CompareCards says issuers are providing such generous deals, they're virtually irresistible for those willing to switch.

" " Those who always pay their balances in full and on time will usually come out ahead.

" " The offers on the credit card landscape are constantly changing which is great news for consumers.

" " In the future, the companies that will thrive are those able to give customers exactly what they want, the way they want it, when they want it.

" " CompareCards was one of three sites that met all the criteria.
