Can you transfer $ from a card not in your name, to a card in your name.

By: CompareCards | Nov 15, 2015

Hi Valeria,

Yes, you can transfer a balance from someone else's credit card to a card in your name. However, this is an extremely risky proposition. Once the debt is transferred onto a card in your name, you become 100% responsible for the payment of the debt.

I truly like the Chase Slate. I done transfer other credit cards to and I am striving to keep all payments done up. But here is one of the greatest Snafu I got myself into. I married a bon-vivant that likes all the best and pays VERY SLOWLY when he pays. So I was a good working nurse paying all my bills and no credit cards PER SE till my Knight of disasters arrived ( well I allowed myself to right? Yes, at present I am looking at about U$ 7,000.00 with credit cards bills all incurred by my estranged beloved husband. The cards are in my name (legally I owe it right?) however my question is there any way that I may enforce him to pay those charges in my name but has his name as whom made the charges? because I noted many those charges says his name as the purchaser. Anyone to educate me about this?

Only one card in the "balance transfer" list says "no transfer fee." Does that mean all the rest have an initial transfer fee, then 0% APR for the duration of the agreement?

By: CompareCards | Nov 6, 2015

Hi Linda,

That is correct. The Chase Slate card is the only credit card that offer no intro balance transfer fee, no annual fee, and an intro 0% APR for 15 months. With the combination of those three things, we consider it the best balance transfer credit card on the market!

The Citi Simplicity is another great option, too. Although it does come with a 3% transfer fee, the intro APR is 0% for 21 months, which is the longest term available.

I have poor credit and I am trying to rebuild. I wish there was a company that would give me another chance, with low interest rates.

By: CompareCards | Nov 3, 2015

Hi Jenn,

Unfortunately, you typically need good or excellent credit to get approved for credit cards with the lowest interest rates. However, there are still a few options to consider even if you have poor credit. If you're trying to rebuild, you should focus on always paying your bills on time and try to avoid carrying a balance. The Credit One Bank Credit Card and the Capital One Secured MasterCard would both be a good place for you to start!

By: Sandy Sims | Nov 20, 2015

Try Capital One. They gave me a chance with poor credit. The first card I had with them was only for $300 but I kept paying on time and after a year they gave me a raise on my limit of $400. After a few months, I applied for the Quicksilver card and they approved me. I think they are the best for helping those of us with poor credit. Good Luck!!!!!!

Hi Bennie,

The Chase Slate card has no balance transfer fee for transfers made within the first 60 days of account opening. This card also comes with no annual fee and 15 months with 0% APR.

I just would like a credit card, I don't want no points, no return, no travel. Just a plain credit card. I would like to transfer two credit cards onto one.

Hi Libby,

The Chase Slate is an excellent balance transfer credit card. It doesn't comes with any rewards program, but it has 15 months with 0% APR as well as no annual fee and no balance transfer fee for transfers made within the first 60 days of account opening.

I have a fico credit score of 711. Would that let me get a credit card with 0 balance transfer fee? It says excellent credit required.

By: CompareCards | Oct 25, 2015

Hi Toni,

A credit score of 711 is considered good, and getting close to excellent. With that score, I would recommend applying for the Chase Slate card which is the only card available with no balance transfer fee. People regularly get approved for that card with scores in the mid to high 600s, so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem for you to get approved!

If i get a credit card o% interest on balance transfers for a period of time with no transfer fees, how do i know what my aprs would be after the 0% interest is up?i have a 675-699 score

By: CompareCards | Oct 21, 2015

Hi Pamela,

Unfortunately, there is know way to know for sure what the ongoing interest rate will be before you apply for a credit card. Most cards have provide a range of interest rates because applicants who get approved have varying credit-worthiness. Those with excellent credit scores will usually get approved for the lowest interest rates.

With a score in the upper 600s, your credit score is good, but not excellent. On a card like the Chase Slate, you may probably get approved for a middle range interest rate; probably not the lowest, but hopefully not too high either.

I had good credit before then got 2 credit cards from capital. I like capital and use to pay the balance off each month but after I got a newer car with payments twice what I asked for, I just pay twice the minimum balance each month. Now my fica sucks and my score is below 600. ouch! I don't get it. I pay all my bills ontime. But my fica score bites. I would like to transfer my balance to a 0% interest card and now I can't.HELP!!!!!!

Hi Pamela,

With a credit score below 600, you're options will be very limited in terms of what you can get approved for. In fact, it is unlikely that you will be able to get approved for any credit card with a 0% APR. One option that may work for you is the Capital One QuicksilverOne. However, you won't be able to transfer a balance from one Capital One card another another Capital One card. So if your current credit card is with Capital One, then the QuicksilverOne won't be a viable option for you.

Compare 0% Balance Transfer Credit Cards & Offers

One of the main reasons that people shop for a new credit card is in order to find banks that offer special 0% balance transfer credit cards for the longest period of time and with low transfer fees. In recent years consumers have started to use credit cards more wisely than they did before the big credit crisis. Now they tend to shift high-interest card balances to cards that offer a lower APR, because in doing so they are able to gain immediate and substantial savings.

Use our free balance transfer calculator and credit card payoff calculator found on this site to figure out how much money you can save by getting a better interest rate. Then look in this section for the best balance transfer credit cards that offer good deals such as 0% interest for 1 to 2 years, no-fee balance transfers, and lower regular APR rates. You will want to pay special attention to any minimum charges or transfer % that a credit card company might impose on you for transferring a balance – deduct that cost from your overall savings in order to arrive at a real net savings for transferring to a new credit card.

Let’s say that you have a card that you’re currently paying 25% interest on, but you find a card here that will only charge you 3.99% for the first year and 18% thereafter. By moving your balance to the new card you can save more than 20% right away, and 7% over the long term. If your transfer amount is $3,000 that means you save around $500– $600 in interest within the next 12 months.

Reviews
" " CompareCards says issuers are providing such generous deals, they're virtually irresistible for those willing to switch.

" " Those who always pay their balances in full and on time will usually come out ahead.

" " The offers on the credit card landscape are constantly changing which is great news for consumers.

" " In the future, the companies that will thrive are those able to give customers exactly what they want, the way they want it, when they want it.

" " CompareCards was one of three sites that met all the criteria.
