Overall

The Bottom-Line

This credit card is aimed at current or future members of Costco who have “good” credit. Earn a cash rebate on most purchases made with the card.

The Good

For the first three months, there’s an introductory 0% APR. After that, it’s (currently) 13.24%. By using the card, you can get bonus cash back at certain types of retailers.

The Not So Good

Since the American Express card is not accepted everywhere, you may not be able to use it at your favorite stores or restaurants.

CARD DESCRIPTION

If you have “good” credit, like to shop at Costco, and like the option of having time payments for your large purchases—together with end-of-year rebates—consider applying. You can get 3% cash back on annual gasoline purchases of up to $3,000 and 1% thereafter; 3% cash back for restaurant purchases; 2% for travel purchases; and earn 1% virtually everywhere that you use your credit card, including Costco,  where it can save time when you’re paying for your purchases. There’s no minimum spending required or annual fee with a paid Costco  membership. As such, it’s both an American Express Credit Card  and a Costco membership card. You can pay your card balance in full each month or just the minimum.

If you’re not already a Costco member, you should know that there are Costco stores (sometimes only one or two) in 40 states, but not in Arkansas, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
